Early vette carb ID help

My friend has a 283 CE motor that he took out of a 61 vette and he wants to ID the carb.. It is a carter 4 bbl. would that be correct? Where are the numbers/ date codes? Thanks

For a 1961, the number cast into the top near the left rear "corner" should be 6-1396. Number cast into the center part of carb should be 0-1343 or 0-1517. If you happen to remove the base from the float bowl, the number 1-1582 should be visible on the top side of that casting. The Carter tag for the correct single four barrel would read 3059S.

I tried to post a pdf of the 50's and 60's Carter carbs used on Corvettes and passenger carbs, but it's too large to do it here. Anyone wants it I can e-mail it though.
