58 Ferrari Ellena

Here is a start of my thread for the 58 Ferrari Ellena that I am restoring to Pebble Beach Quality.

It's not American Muscle, but thought the site member would enjoy the process I'm going thru to restore the car.

49 of these cars are made - 15 know to exist....considered preproduction cars before Pinafarina was hired to build production Ferrari's starting with the 59 250 PF Coupe.

This was moving the car out of the owners tractor trailer way out south of Reno - off the grid place .

It was acquired in 74 by the person i bought the car from. He took it apart completely and stored stuff in coffee cans and bins and moved 4-5 times over the years until i purchased the the car in September of 2014. With the exception of the orig motor, everything else was broken down the last nut, bolt and screw and NOT labeled! All original drive train certified in the Ferrari world. Of course - V12 :-)))

More to come.....

Me, Dennis, Shaun and my neighbor Eric getting it out of the transport. Thanks to Shaun and Dennis for getting me the forklift to the house to get the crates off the transporter!

Wow Eddie, that's a car that makes a car guy quiver! Never seen 1 before so thanx for the pics. I see some stude, some cobra and possibly some sunbeam traits that followed the styling.
Good Stuff.

That is soooo cool Ed. Thanks. I love that 50s styling cue of protruding fender headlights and a large oval grille! Is that a Pininfarina body?

Very cool. Looks like they stole some design elements from the Loewy coupes.

Great project! Unidentified Ferrari parts, huh? I wish you luck in your quest of perfection.
Just making it on the lawn at Pebble is what many dream about and few are able to achieve. Somehow I think you can pull it off. Please keep this thread going.

Very interesting car, this thread will be one to follow Eddie! And presumably no AIMs out there for 1958 Ferraris, so working out where all the fasteners go will be.....fun.

Eddie,

This will be a treat. Glad your going to take us all along for the ride! This is some rarified air to be sure!!!!

Great car, my buddy at work just bought back a '62 250 his dad owned back in the 70s, I'm not much of a Ferrari guy but damn that's a beautiful car.
