SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
SOLD! After weeks of speaking with Kurt Burdick (brkyard)... yenko member, my SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan has a new home and owner. One of my concerns was making sure that the new owner retains the integrity and passion that goes with owning such a car. Kurt certianly has all these qualities....even though he is a "Cheese Head"....A there Kurt, how`s that piece of wood working for you? Joke from this morning.
Kurt came down this morning with a few of his buddies, John and Mike. Boy, do they know how to have a good time. Kurt, Best of luck with my car. Hope to se you at Chevel-Abration 2009 and or my all 1969 Chevelle Party! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010125.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010126.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010127.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010147.jpg Kurt.... the proudful new owner http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010150.jpg Kurt and I http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010151.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010153.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010159.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010160.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010162.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010163.jpg The End! Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Thanks. I am really excited to have the car. Dan was a top notch seller even though he's a Bear fan. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
My plan is to continue the history of a "Day 2" race car. I plan on putting a 4-speed back in it and have a little fun at the track...which it deserves. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...d/100_0357.jpg http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...d/100_0359.jpg http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...100_0371-1.jpg http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...d/100_0368.jpg |

The trip home went fine. Just to let you know, you had to only deal with those guys for a couple of hours. I have to put up with it ALL THE TIME!!!http://www.clipartof.com/images/emot...72_shocked.gif

Kurt,
Welcome to another 69 Chevelle SS Post Sedan owner. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif I'll look for you at the track this summer. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Thanks Rick. I think it will be a while before I can get it to the strip but for now I am just glad to get back into a "real" muscle car with a great history.
My goal is to someday contact some of the original owners and get pictures of the car from back in the 70's or 80's. That would make everything complete. |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Well the work has started. Mike and I are replacing the heater core and water pump. After that we will be working on the dog legs of the front fenders.

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Just a little FYI, you could probably remove that stud girdle with those being tough cast iron heads. Aluminum heads (especially GM snowflake) are where those things are really needed. They can be a pain in you-know-what! Loosen the girdle, lash the valve to the correct setting, tighten the girdle up, and then re-check the lash and see that it changed. Very frustating!

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Great car, by the way! I'm a big fan of "post" cars having a couple of '65's at the house right now along with my Biscayne.

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
I have a set of 842's in the basement. Now that I know that the motor has closed chamber heads, I might swap them. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Kurt,
Looking Great! Your garage needs a few Bears posters and You`ve got one too many heaters in that garage.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Let me know when you make your debut at the track! Dan. |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
I used all those posters to start the fire pit out back! As far as the heaters, I had to use the salamander until the Modine was finished, which was today.
As far as hitting the track, I think it will be a while. I'm still in limbo on what to do with the trans. All I really need is the Z-bar and the trans. But I don't want to chew off more than I can handle. But John and Mike are pushing me to do it now 'cause it will be a lot easier. Either way, the car is making progress. The front and back windows are coming out tomorrow so Mike and I can make any repairs around them. I told everyone that I did not want a project car and, well, here I am. And I love it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif Kurt |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
I had the windshield taken out and it broke, as expected. That's ok though. It was tinted and not original to the car. It was dated 1972 and was made by........Ford. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif I have a new clear one coming and will be dated correct for the car. The back window was original to the car.
The passenger side wing/vent is also not correct for the car. I have that one coming also. There are a few rust issues but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I'm so thrilled my car is on a good place.
Kurt, before you take out that vent window. Call me... There is a trick to it :-) Dan. |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
It rotted out in the same place as mine did in the El.

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Floors look very good considering it's from the Chicago area. I am very pleased. The part that sucks is the pretty green glue someone used at one time on the floor. Because we all know how much carpet moves???

I got the tires on Friday and put them on the Ansen wheels Saturday.
Not the best pictures but it's the best I can do considering the weather. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/100_0523.jpg http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/100_0524.jpg |

Nice, in no-time you`ll have that interior all together.... just in time for Summer!
Dan. |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
The drivers side vent/wing rivet is not original to my car and the bracket is bent a little. I went to a local salvage yard and bingo, the guy that was with me found these.
Plus, these vents have clear glass in them and the one on my passenger side is tinted. Turned out to be a nice score. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/100_0601.jpg |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Awesome find! The puzzle is coming together nicely.....do you have the new front windshield and back glass?
Dan. |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
I have a new dated clear windshield coming and the back glass was original to the car and in excellent condition so that will be put back in when I am ready. Which should be in a couple of weeks or so.

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
I took the left fender off to repair the dog leg and found what appears to be the numbers 269 behind it. Any idea what this would mean?
http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/100_0621.jpg |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
After a little more investigating over on the Team Chevelle site, the 269 is a partial number of my sequence number on the trim tag.

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Correct! Looking good! Did you happen to see the NOS part number tag underneath the drivers side fender. Hopefully its still there.
Dan. |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
No I didn't. I did see the D.Vasic part number on the eyebrow trim though. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Yes, I label all of my own personal parts... so I do not mix them up with other same exact parts I have. Plus if I were to sent these parts out for resto, better chance of getting my parts back.
Dan. |

I meant to say.... Inner Fenders. Here are pics before I restored them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010180.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P1010181-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P1010183-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010182.jpg Dan. |
