Moderators/Sticky/KNOWN fake or cars with issues

To the masses:

Do you also feel it's time for a sticky on this area/forum for cars like the LS6 being discussed being a known and proven fake, that we have a sticky for car/VIN/Discription so one can easily search for info on these cars?

The sticky would not be for discussion or really "open-to-the-public" just the mods can post with car, vin, description and KNOWN issues.

So example could be the car being discussed here:

https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=157405

So maybe the post could be:

1970 LS6/Black V.I.N. #VIN 136370R221194
Issues: "was originally assembled as an LS-5 and has been documented by past ownerships" NOW being represented as LS6 with FAKE docs and Protect-O-Plate and a Certificate from the LS6 Registry.

This way there is sold, concrete past proven history of cars that are fakes, rebodies or outright lies (as in the case of a certain 1970 BLACK LS6 rag in Canada that was once own by Bob Probert IIRC, yet now being repped as original LS6 rag-top).

What does the masses say???

Yup fantastic idea!

Great idea, but I imagine that would open a whole can of legal worms. Also, things like the white COPO being discussed where (based on what others are saying) the car is real, but the build sheet is fake.

I guess I need an explanation of what legal problems this would cause. If a car is proven a fake and it's listed as a fake then what can be done?

Maybe cause certain owners of fake cars and who refuse to accept that they were duped would sue the admins for “poisoning” their car. They may eventually lose in court but in the mean time we would be donating to a Gofundme to pay for legal fees. Such is the way of the world.

Absolutely. Great idea. Need to protect the hobby

Thanks guys. Just think it sucks what some pull.

As far as some sueing and legal issues, on cars that might be iffy or not 100% of the background is indisputable, just put a disclaimer thats states some like,

"This is open to interpretation and to not be taken as 100% gospel trueth" or something as all indications leads us to believe that its fake or whatever.

There is a guy in my hometown that bought a known clone/tribute, and was even advertised as suck, trys to tell people its a legit car....... sad.

Don't forget the 1 of 1 Black L-89 70 Nova...……

It might be opening yourself/the site to legal issues. Something that works just as good at putting an end to it is to forward KNOWN AND CONFIRMED information to the state police and have them start an investigation. That is how Mike D was put in jail for cloning an LS6 from an L34 and selling it, not once but twice. There was enough evidence that it was open and shut. As long as you have the proof you cannot be sued for slander or liable and turning it over to investigators will at the very least get the person on a watch list.

Not for nothing, but an internet search of the vin should bring up all the old threads talking about the suspect cars shouldn't it? They'd at least come up on the individual sites if someone takes thirty seconds to go to the popular sites and search the partial vin for starters. Anyone that doesn't do at least that for due diligence is asking to get screwed IMO.
"There is a guy in my hometown that bought a known clone/tribute, and was even advertised as suck, trys to tell people its a legit car....... sad." You'll never change the liars that can't be happy with what they actually have. I agree, it's very sad.
