GM 3919842 heads value?
i have a pair of GM 3919842 heads dated 8/18/68 and 8/24/68 they are not cracked they do need a rebuild. they do have minor porting done but nothing major just mainly a smooth up job on both intake and exhaust. no repairs that i noticed. im considering selling if valuable but if not im building a 396/375 to put in my truck ill use them on it. just trying to get some opinions on value to decide weather or not to use them. thanks cody.

Re: GM 3919842 heads value?
From what I've seen in the last 6 years.... these have come way down. And not an easy sale like they once were.
I had a Virgin set similar in dates. That were 8,000 mile Take offs. decades ago. ... Freshened up with Comp Cams premium SS valves & Spring kit.....Never Cut heads. I had them for sale off n on for 5+ years starting off at $3,200..then 2,900. Then 2,500...2,200. Finally sold them in a package of other BB stuff Netted around 1900 for the matched set. 69 Heads I sold for about 400 more and could have sold 5 sets or more......69 vs 68. Big $$$ difference. $1,000 to 1,200 is what I feel...as they probably need more than you think.....as always.... |
Re: GM 3919842 heads value?
I would say about 2000 considering they need to be redone

"i seen one single that showed sold for 3500 it was nos but it was just one."
I SAW THAT ONE AS WELL, THE ONLY WAY POSSIBLE THAT HEAD IS EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO THAT IS IF YOU ALSO HAD A SINGLE AND PAIRED IT UP. Even then a set of service 842 nos heads are worth around 3500-4000 TOPS |

Except one thing..... reading his question, .... My brain read 840 heads....my eyes read 842...duh. My apologies for misinterpenting the casting #'s. ...I do get blurred vision at times...lol. Antime you need values, sure, just ask.....if the #'s are right......Hummmmm ? Have a good day Regards, Tom |
