'69 Nova #s SS396/350hp 4-speed, Docs

Nice car in a great color with good docs including the original car shipper to Rapp Chevrolet in South Dakota. Should be a good benchmark for a nicely restored car.

No vinyl top listed on the shipper.

Cool! My home state. Car likely made some passes at Thunder Valley Dragway in Marion back in the day.

Trim tag is 79 79, so it wasn't delivered with a vinyl top. Either dealer-installed or added when paint was restored.

The 731 black vinyl trim refers to the interior...731 was the basic trim level, plain jane seats, rubber floor, no frills.

I took a quick look at the photo gallery...overall a good starting point, but not a benchmark restoration. There are lots of items that need attention [both technical and cosmetic]...good example is the interior. 731 is the 'taxi cab' grade vinyl seats and rubber floor mats...they used the deluxe seat covers and carpeting. Common for these cars since the correct seats and rubber floor are difficult to source. The seller's claim of an "original interior" is at best incorrect considering most folks don't know the details.

The other item that jumps out is the small block rad cover connected to the fan shroud...all big block cars had a rubber flap with t-wing style snap clips.

Looks like the trans may be a replacement unit based on the stamping...hard to tell from the photo which Muncie it is

The shipper lists the exterior decor package which included the b/s molding and brite window trim...this was a popular trim option for that era Nova...no mention of the vinyl roof or drip rail moldings. The A2 on the trim tag confirms this...

That green is a sharp color and this car could be taken to the next level, but you will spend some money to do it...$5-10k easily...more if you want a correct exhaust, repro wide ovals, etc.

I didn't catch that...can the 70 version be installed in the 69 spot, or does the different lamp denote body work or 1/4 panel replacement??

I sent the muscle dealer a polite e-mail mentioning the car had some issues and there was a lot of little stuff that needed to be corrected. Surprising...he called me and welcomed the input...he was adamant that the sheet metal was all original.

We talked about the interior, vinyl roof, under hood stuff, etc...the dealer owns the car, it is not a consignment. He may update the ad to reflect some of the things we talked about...

Seems like a solid car...but like any of these 50yr old rides...a personal inspection is needed.

I looked thru the photo gallery again...this image shows the 'telephone' outline in the rear 1/4...so, either they cut them out of the originals and added them or the metal is factory...could have half quarters or repairs...:hmmm:

I remember in the not so long ago past this car being listed by a broker in MD on ebag for several runs and not being able to fetch above 35k. Love the car but it has too many issues to bring upper end money. My .02.
