June 6, 1944...D-Day.
Today is the 75th anniversary of the greatest military event in history...thousands gave their lives that day to free Europe from the Nazi's. Please remember those brave young soldiers, airmen and sailors who were part of the 'greatest generation'. :flag::flag::flag: |
God Bless them all, when I was an apprentice, my foreman was a paratrooper on D Day, I can’t imagine. When I worked with Lou, we always talked the war. He was part of the movement through France.

Those brave soldiers will always be remembered. So many mistakes were made in the planning and implementation of the attack, and we prevailed! however there was a huge loss of life. We succeeded because of the will and hearts of our soldiers on the ground. :flag:

Amen and thank God for those who gave their all for the freedom we have today!:worship: :flag: ~ Pete . |
I was there a little over one year ago and it's a very moving experience.

Unbelievable courage, drive, dedication to get it done. I can't imagine what the world would be like if they didn't succeed. :worship::flag:

My neighbor across the street, Al, is 94, WW2 Bomber Pilot, remarkable guy. We are scheduled for a glass of wine over this weekend. I can't wait as he is an open book about his experiences and when he's gone, so are the stories... Spend time with these folks while you can, the time remaining is short

I had the honor to meet a local vet who was at the landing on Omaha Beach. His name is Ralph Avery and he was a gunners mate on a Navy landing craft that fateful day. He was wounded in action during the battle.
The photo below is of him and his wife...they have been married for over 70 years! God bless all the heroes like Ralph :flag: https://www.columbiapaper.com/2017/0...t-ralph-avery/ |
