Restoration battery
Is Jim's Battery Mfg. what everybody is using? Any other thoughts? I don't really want to use a lead/acid battery. Thank you, Joe

If you want something that looks like an original Delco, I have a Delco red top display battery It is hollow, and, as I understand it, was used in retail locations to advertise the battery. I was planning to cut it open, and install an Optima battery inside it, attaching the leads to the posts, but I never got around to it.

I cut the top of my R59 Restoration battery and then cut the sealed battery out of the base. I put in a new base and sealed battery, connected the leads and silicone sealed the top back on. It's good as new.

I like a topper. You get the same look without dealing with a old battery

I have a Topper, too. They look great from the top, but the sides remain whatever the texture of your modern battery is. And my battery is slightly smaller than the Topper, so it's obvious that it's a Topper.

I cut the bottom out of a restoration battery and all it had in there was a small odyssey, I bought a derail for over $200, it was cool, but lasted 2 years.

I gutted an old Delco that finally bit the dust and put a Braile battery inside. Saved some weight, gained some cranking amps, and the two I have rarely need much time on the trickle charger. They can sit for a month or two at a time, I put the trickle charger on and they are good in about an hour. Just to compare, the Duracell in my Bimmer after setting for one month, takes two days to bring all the way back. So, if I am not driving it, I normally put the trickle charger on it after about a week. Don't even get me started on the AMG, with two batteries that I have to keep a tender on if I am not driving it at least once a week.
