What's a 1970 Corvette 454 worth?

Looking to put a value on a completely rebuilt Corvette 1970 454. 512 block, steel crank, bored 30 over. Keith black pistons and floated pins. All new valves, roller cam and roller rockers. I'm picking it up from the machine shop tomorrow. I have the corvette tach drive distributor, starter, Pressure plate, fuel pump but no 1970 intake. But have an Edelbrock RPM intake to go with it. The date on the block is K12-9. The heads are 3964290 dated L 2 9 and the other is later if I remember correctly. Be a great date coded motor for an LS5 Chevelle or Corvette.

10 to 1 2 bolt mains. And I have a lot more in the motor than 4k. Machine work was 2k alone

Unfortunately, building engines much like restoring cars is quite easy to get upside down unless you are starting with something quite rare and desirable or can do the vast majority of the work yourself especially now with parts and labor costs increasing.

Way better places to make money if that is the goal. This hobby for most is a labor of love.

I see guys advertising fresh generic numbered BBs like what you have above for $5,500 and seem to sell them. I dont know what they sold for... I am the person that always has my trusted people do machine work so I only buy cores.

I bought the motor right, and the machine shop bill was just shy of 5K. I had the motor built as I wanted a BBC for a future project build. Currently I do not have the car just the driveline. Like everything else the prices are getting out of control for parts and to build a motor today than a year ago it's going to cost more. I really don't care if I sell it. Just figured I'd ask what everyone thought it was worth. I may throw it out there for sale. Thanks to all that replied.

454 Value...

The quality parts and the roller valve train are a step up from the normal build and worth a premium in my opinion. The GM 454 HO is not my choice...8.75 to 1 compression, big port heads...lots of better choices or build your own.

The vintage 512 block steel crank, 290 heads and roller cam make a nice package.

Maybe post the cam specs so folks can see what's in it...

Do you have a dyno sheet for the motor???
