CAROLINA BLUE PAINT CODE?????

I have been searching for information on the paint code on my 68 Chevelle SS396 convertible. It was built in Baltimore and sold in NC. The paint code on the trim tag shows 2393-2 where the paint code should show a letter. It has a black top as it should. I know I am reading the tag correctly. Could someone please try and shed some light on this code. I have searched unsuccessfully for a build sheet. I found a small area of original paint (car was redone in the 90's) and it is a sky blue called Carolina Blue, available only in North and South Carolina. Please help!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

If the car is an original Carolina Blue car, I believe it would have a "- -" as the paint code... no numbers just dashes. I think the same is for any special paint car.

Re: CAROLINA BLUE PAINT CODE?????

Carolina Blue was probably 69 Olds Powder Blue, Olds paint code 80, PPG code 2096. Don't know if it was available prior to 69, as I haven't seen it as a stock color in any GM line prior to 69.

Re: CAROLINA BLUE PAINT CODE?????

Several different shades I think were used by different dealers; there were 3-4 Pontiac/ Olds colors used. One was 63 Olds Wedgewood Blue.

Re: CAROLINA BLUE PAINT CODE?????

I looked all over this car, and there is no sign it has ever been anything but light blue. Have a PPG number from someone in Ohio. He painted a 68 Camaro Carolina Blue. Also another guy with a 71 Chevelle . Here are the numbers I got from them. One is Carolina Blue the other I believe is light blue.
PPG# DSB12713
PPG# DSB17399
Thanks for all the replies
