03D Norwwod Pace Car bottom side color.

I’m quite sure this subject has been beaten to death in the past, but I’ll ask again for myself and those that are interested. I am looking for pictures of the bottom sides of White 69 Camaro survivor cars. Not sure if Dates and assembly plants have anything to do with it, but mine is a 03D Norwood car. Looking for the bottom side colors (i.e. Black, gray, white), overspray patterns etc.

Thanks in advance,

Tom Weaver

Follow Supercar Workshop on Facebook. Brian posts restoration photos of his work and they just finished a '69 L78 Z11 pacer within the last year or so.

I've been watching his cars. A few guys I have spoken to think some of his is a bit excessive, hence the request for original car pictures to compare to.

Brian simply recreates what was found on each specific car. This is the best way to restore your car as you are never wrong.

If you are doing a consensus restoration then the restoration will be customized to what everybody will agree is correct then all you have to do is contact the judging staff at the Camaro nationals.

They will be happy to tell you what they think.

Still laughing.... I took plenty of pictures after the car was cleaned but lost them due to a computer crash. Thank goodness for the many recent free storage places like Facebook etc....

There are many photos on the Super Car Workshop Facebook page that show the car just wiped down with wax and grease remover. If it is a bit "excessive" as you state, don't blame me blame Norwood. You can clearly see in the pictures a very heavy dose of white overspray on the underside of this original paint car we started with. Like fingerprints each car is a bit different. Why not just duplicate what you find on your car. That is always the best bet..BKHhttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...9-dsc_2312.jpg

Thank You Smile

If memory serves me correct, My floors appeared to be solidly sprayed in battleship Gray color first, then certain areas of the car to exclude the bottom side of the trunk pan and hump, inner sides of the frame rails and inner back of the rear tail pan (VERY SIMILAR TO THE PICTURES you posted). The Rest of the bottom side seemed to be fogged in with a light black or almost a dark gray speckle color, but definitely not black like the restored cars seen everywhere. The firewall wall was definitely black up top and faded out towards the bottom of the toe board. The bottom side of the Floors were once again DARK GRAY Speckle like with White overspray coming from the direction of the rocker panel lips. Both inner and outer Rocker Panel lips were solidly sprayed white. The Painter asked me to find pictures showing the spray patterns if possible. A picture is worth a thousand words. What is posted above is FANTASTIC.

For what it is worth, other than the white overspray (my car is black) the above pics remind me of the underside of my car when I first cleaned it up. 08A.

Very dark primer sealer of some kind forward of the rear axle and much lighter primer from the axle back. Not sure why it was two different colors, but definitely was. Hard to tell how much overspray was on bottom, being a dark sealer and black car.

Again, for what it is worth, here is a pic of my car after the underside was restored. I replicated the factory look the best I could. I am certain the back was very light, as you can see, and forward of the axle much darker, but as you say, not black. I have heard conflicting stories of what was actually used at Norwood for the dark underside.

This looks like mine did, but slightly darker. What is the Build Date of your car? Mine was actually built March 31, 69. Thanks for sharing...

This 68 Gibb Nova illustrates how the factory can have more overspray on one side than the other. Also the flash makes the colors appear more vibrant than in person. In addition certain colors like red, white, orange etc will dominate the floor pan unlike the darker shades...BKH
