I believe that was a members car

m22mike 11-05-2019 11:57 PM

I believe so, talked with hin at MCACN when he had the car there.

It is not special paint; has 67-67 paint code.

The early Camaro Color Accents chart lists Burgundy as receiving red D90, D96 or DX1 striping. Z/28 striping wasn't listed. It was final-assembled on or about October 8, 1968. Fisher Body used the info they had and gave it red stripes. Other Burgundy Z/28s have white stripes.

Burgundy is a relatively rare color; only about 2.3%.

----Wouldn't this Z have black below the rocker trim?......Bill S

ALLZS 11-06-2019 02:31 PM

no not on burgundy color cars

jdv69z 11-06-2019 02:45 PM

So if Fisher gave the car red Stripes, so did Chevrolet on the front end right? So both plants had to be on the same page on this one, however that was done.

HawkX66 11-06-2019 04:48 PM

Love that color. Personal preference would be without the stripes or another color, but gorgeous none the less. Some great pics at Mecum.

I'm going to show my ignorance here, but is the spacing of the stripes correct?

The front stripes seem to key off the cowl panel; in the rear the seem to be anchored by the width of the rear window, resulting in (what looks to me to be) a wider gap between the stripes in the rear than in the front.

Never noticed it before.

Another observation: I think this would be a cool application for "ghost stripes" (stripes that would be a little less visible).

The stripes are wider in the rear. If this is the car I knew of it had original paint fairly recently. I wonder how many with red stripes are around

Keith Seymore 11-06-2019 11:17 PM

Now I can't unsee it.

OK.. I'll ask since nobody else has. What is "SOP" in the orig title of this thread ?

Lynn 11-07-2019 12:22 AM

I think the OP meant Sep 69 Camaro. Of course, it is really a Sept of 68 build for the 69 model year.

My best guess.

Crush 11-07-2019 12:23 AM

Standard Operating Procedure?!

RobR 11-07-2019 12:32 AM

Special Order Paint?

Lynn 11-07-2019 01:01 AM

Special Order Paint is probably a better guess than my guess.

BOWTIE67327 11-07-2019 01:17 AM

and here I am thinking im an idiot, googling SOP CAMARO!

Silly Old People.

Keith Seymore 11-07-2019 11:42 AM

Round these parts it means "Start of Production".

But I figured it out, without asking. I already betrayed my lack of knowledge about Camaros in post #9.

When new. Great car

duskblue 11-09-2019 02:30 AM

Mike True owns that one or one just like it. It had original owner paper work.

ZLP955 11-09-2019 08:18 AM

What is that at the top of the driver's side headlamp in the Mecum pics?

William 11-09-2019 06:55 PM

A label with a QR code. Auctions do that; scan it and see info about the car on your device.

Always thought those meant it was admitted @ MCACN recently.

m22mike 11-10-2019 01:47 AM

The stickers placed on a headlight at the MCACN show are from the fire dept. after they have verified less than 1/4 tank of fuel.

NorCam 11-10-2019 03:30 PM

That color looks fantastic with red stripes on it. Love that it's an early car and was left with it's flat hood and deck lid.

Showing my ignorance here:
Why would the FD verify less than 1/4 tank?

Mr70 11-10-2019 06:07 PM

You can't have more than 1/4 tank of gas to enter an indoor car show, preferably less.
If you have more, you have to take some out or else not allowed in.

Mr.Nickey Nova 11-17-2019 12:54 PM

Can't believe Dan left that sticker on the headlight after the last Vette Fest Show in '08' when we had our 69 Z/28 display of every color. Dan had some good stories, very nice Z...
