Thanks Rick. I think it will be a while before I can get it to the strip but for now I am just glad to get back into a "real" muscle car with a great history.

My goal is to someday contact some of the original owners and get pictures of the car from back in the 70's or 80's. That would make everything complete.

Well the work has started. Mike and I are replacing the heater core and water pump. After that we will be working on the dog legs of the front fenders.

Just a little FYI, you could probably remove that stud girdle with those being tough cast iron heads. Aluminum heads (especially GM snowflake) are where those things are really needed. They can be a pain in you-know-what! Loosen the girdle, lash the valve to the correct setting, tighten the girdle up, and then re-check the lash and see that it changed. Very frustating!

Great car, by the way! I'm a big fan of "post" cars having a couple of '65's at the house right now along with my Biscayne.

I have a set of 842's in the basement. Now that I know that the motor has closed chamber heads, I might swap them. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Good place to put `em. I'm sure someone would want the 840's if you needed to sell.

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan

I used all those posters to start the fire pit out back! As far as the heaters, I had to use the salamander until the Modine was finished, which was today.

As far as hitting the track, I think it will be a while. I'm still in limbo on what to do with the trans. All I really need is the Z-bar and the trans. But I don't want to chew off more than I can handle. But John and Mike are pushing me to do it now 'cause it will be a lot easier.

Either way, the car is making progress. The front and back windows are coming out tomorrow so Mike and I can make any repairs around them.

I told everyone that I did not want a project car and, well, here I am. And I love it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif
