Chevrolet (GM) Nationals at Carlisle 2017

I refuse to call it the Chevrolet nationals:) Who is going? We will be there with our 69 Judge in the GM showcase display in building T. I see Grady Burch will be there too with his Camaro. Who else will be going? Make sure you stop and say Hello to us! My wife and Son and friend will be there with our car

PxTx 06-13-2017 01:17 PM

I plan on being there with my Dad- Plow man and bring his Nova. The Nova Nationals are there- so I guess that is where we'll be.

Certainly will try and meet up with as many SYC as I can. See you guys then.

Verne_Frantz 06-13-2017 01:42 PM

I think changing the name was the only thing they could think of to try and save the meet. The venue is still the same. It's still a GM event.

I'll be there in spot E-102 (in front of the food court). Feel free to stop by and say Hi and share a cold beverage.

Mike

camarojoe 06-13-2017 10:03 PM

My dad, my brother, and myself will be set up right across from the picnic tables at the grandstand, selling a variety of overpriced vintage Chevrolet parts and accessories. Stop by and say hello!

Novas at Carlisle...

National Nostalgic Nova will be there [see the blue shaded areas]. I had really hoped to go, but there are just too many items on the home front. Good luck to everyone who attends the event... enjoy!

Mr Yenko 06-17-2017 07:47 PM

I will be showing with the Novas
The "MOF"

flyingn 06-19-2017 01:28 AM

couple more days!

68camaroz28 06-19-2017 11:40 AM

This really stinks as I'd like to be there but will be at Camaro Nationals with our 68Z for legend judging. Son wanted to have our two Nova's on display but as long as both parties continue to keep the same dates they will continue to conflict. Wish I could be at Carlisle but next year the 1968 would work great for 2018.

m22mike 06-19-2017 01:05 PM

It does stink, but don't look for the Camaro world to ever get on the same page any time soon, JMO. :frown:
Good luck Chick, your 68 is the best and it would be cool to see the Nova again.
Mike

protree68 06-19-2017 01:17 PM

Why can't they have the Camaro show at the same event when you fly in for the weekend is hard to hit them both

RobR 06-19-2017 01:28 PM

There is also a very good Chevelle show not far away in northeast Maryland the same weekend. It's a shame they couldn't get together at Carlisle to bolster The GM/Chevy show

Mr70 06-19-2017 01:28 PM

Yep..

Scheduling conflict for the Camaro Nationals, Bloomington Corvette show and Barrett-Jackson Northeast... some cross show collaboration would be killer

camarojoe 06-19-2017 02:14 PM

Last year Carlisle moved the GM nationals a week earlier so the Camaros could attend both shows. They didn't come anyhow, so they moved the dates back again for 2017.

Joe,

I always wondered about the desire to display in an air conditioned building when flash condensation would be a major consideration at move out especially in very warm and humid conditions, perhaps they kill the AC 6 hours prior to move out to avoid this?

Fast temp changes are really tough on anything exposed to heat or natural steel.

Is building T air conditioned?

The display building at Fredrick is. I thought AC was one of the big reasons to move the show there.

Verne_Frantz 06-20-2017 02:00 PM

Building T has large doors on each end that are left open.
Verne

flyingn 06-20-2017 05:10 PM

little heat wont hurt anyone. suck it up.

Copo_Cartel 06-20-2017 11:24 PM

If you're talking about heat transfer .... I don't understand because the building is about 75° and the outside temperature is about 90° ..... I don't think that's a big difference ... but if you're that worried about it what do you do when you transport cars in enclosed trailers when it's very very hot inside the trailer..not sure how that happens ... there's your heat transfer .... but here's a different one what do they do with Chicago when the show is in November and the outside temperature can be 20° and inside is 70° .... I guess my response is suck it up buttercup .... these cars were meant to be inside and outside it doesn't matter.

Copo_Cartel 06-20-2017 11:28 PM

I have been in the Y building several several times and you want to talk about swamp a$$... that humidity can do some damage by itself . But that's why we agree to disagree

Yep in order to make a funny comparison there needs to be an element of truth to it.

LOL..The exact same thing I said to a friend living in 120° Phoenix today.
He was giving us grief here in Chicago during the winter.
Ain't payback a B****. :)

novadude 06-21-2017 12:42 PM

I think I'm going. Look for a driver quality, white-on-red '65 Nova on the show field with chrome OE steel wheels and whitewalls.

flyingn 06-25-2017 10:32 PM

Just got back. What a fun weekend it was. The solid lifter showroom was awesome too. Here is our Judge set up in building T. Met a few guys over the weekend from here too.
