Goodyear buys Cooper Tire

Just heard Goodyear bought Cooper Tire, will be interesting to see what they do with it

Yes they kind of had to because Cooper was killing them especially in the rural markets.

Cooper also offered niche tires (like snow tires) in sizes that other manufacturers did not have, so GY now has a new catalog and manufacturing capability.

My guess however is that Cooper as a separate brand eventually goes away.

That's damn sad to read, I buy Cooper tires for many of my vehicles.

So I guess this may mean that we will be seeing less of a preponderance of "Cooper Cobra" white lettered tires.

There are many more thousands of T/A tires out there than the Cobras.

Agreed, but man, those Cobras are tough on the eyes!

I don't do white letters at all, but the Cobras are a better gripping tire than a T/A.

Cooper also owns Mickey Thompson brand tires. Hopefully they won't stop selling 15" radials, there are too few choices now.
