Are you sure about that the car had cast iron on it i know the L78 has the aluminum 660

I do not have definitive knowledge, but a cast iron thermostat housing certainly does not seem correct for ANY 69 big block to me. I know that my low mile 325hp 69 SS396 convert has an aluminum one on it. Engine build date of 12/30/68.

The thermostat housing would've been installed at the engine assm. plant if that might be food for thought. 660s are mostly what I've seen. No iron...Joe

No guarantees, but that's an L34 motor like mine and I'm sure built at Tonawanda like mine. I can't imagine them using two different thermostat housings to build the same engine, but crazier things have happened. Mine is a 660.

Aluminum 100% for 69 Big Block
Also keep in mind there are two types of 660 Housings, you want the one pictured with the number on the flange as mid-late 69 they started putting that number on the neck.

Agreed. 325 hp & 350 hp are both considered "low hp". I have pics of a survivor low mileage L34 that has it painted with the intake.
