Amazing, GLWS!!

An incredible piece! Usually Motion cars are a little more outrageous exterior-wise. This one is nice and sedate. GLWS

Lot #1418 - This Baldwin Motion 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS has documentation from NCRS confirming the original dealer as Baldwin Chevrolet, with owner history to day one - an original, unrestored time capsule. It has original body panels and paint (some touch-up), 100% original interior, original born-with Cowl Tag confirming this is indeed a factory black/black built per the Trim Tag, which is coded 11C, indicating the third week of November 1967, which is the model year 1968. It is powered by the original 427/425hp GM engine as installed by Motion Performance, and still retains the original broach marks and machine code of T1117ID indicating November 17 assembly as 425hp; cast K77 indicating November 7, 1967; and casting pour with 840 square-port heads cast K27 indicating a November 2, 1967, casting pour. It is equipped with the original GM intake with Motion 3-barrel carburetor modification and the original 3-barrel Holley carburetor. It has the original traction bars made by LAB machine attached to the original GM 4.56 posi-traction coded rear end with stick-welded tubes by Motion Performance. This car also has its born-with M21 close-ratio 4-speed transmission with GM-matching VIN stamp. It has the Motion-installed early-style Lakewood bell housing with two-piece inspection cover and Motion-installed original aluminum Schaefer flywheel, as well as the original date-coded GM power brake booster and master cylinder, and original 4-piston front disc brake calipers. The car also features the Motion-installed fly-eye air cleaner, dual-point Mallory distributor, electric fuel pump in trunk, die-cast valve covers and Ram Charger salmon ignition wires. It comes complete with the original Motion-installed Sun Tach and gauges, along with the original Hurst shifter. The original predecessor to the COPO, this is an original unrestored black/black Baldwin Motion Camaro, with its original 427/425hp engine as installed by Motion Performance before its original sale by Baldwin Chevrolet - a true unrestored Baldwin Motion Camaro in exceptional condition. 22,883 actual miles.

Auction description does not specifically say the car was an actual MOTION hands on prepared vehicle. That said if Joel authenticated the car or it has the original receipts from MOTION showing the prep and parts then that info should definitely be in the official vehicle description.

We have certified letters from Billy Mitchel that worked at Motion from 1967 to 1972 that there are certain items that were done to the car were done by him .Also we have all the owner history on the Camaro which has been a New Jersey car all its life. The Camaro was at the Camaro Nationals this year and was looked at by many judges; Steve , Dale etc . The Vin tag. Trim tag interior and exterior. Since Joel Rosen is in poor health he is not interested in authenticated any cars. There are posts on Face Book with these letters. All this information and approximately 100 pictures will be with the car at Barrett. thanks

Great news. That is a good and accurate presentation of the car's provenance that totally fits the legal and contractual requirements of the auction house.

Does Billy Mitchel recall if the add-ons were done before the car was delivered to the original owner or at a later date?

I had a chance to see the car and the portfolio of documents he had put together at the Camaro Nationals. He really researched and investigated the origins of the car from original owner to present.... GLWA

Exactly.

A bidder is going to want to know when the work was done as the parts used are normally associated with a later timeframe motion build.

As far as the information that I researched ;; First you went to Baldwin and ordered the car ; Then went to Motion and picked out the items that you wanted changed on the car then Motion would change these items and send the Motion invoice to Baldwin Chevrolet the customer would pay Baldwin for the final invoice. The modifications done on the Camaro were done at Motion ( as crude as they were per Billy !!!!!!!!)
