Day 2 Resto tip needed....

What brand/shade paint have you all used to replicate the yellow for traction bars and the red for Lakewood driveshaft loops/scattershields?

NorCam 04-08-2019 01:10 AM

I used Tremclad Professional "Safety Red" Model # 5707564838 Aerosol for the Lakewood Roll Bar and Driveshaft Loop. Based in Grey primer this gave it the perfect color with 3 good coats of paint and closely matched the factory bell housing color once it cured.

For the Traction Bars I used Duplicolor DE1642 which is a Daytona Yellow aerosol. Same thing with a good base in grey primer then 3 good coats allowing them to dry between coats. I think they look great as well but that can be subjective.

Hope this helps?

great information!
What about the orange/red for a set of Ansen Ground Grabber traction bars?
I have a well used set looking to restore.

NorCam 04-09-2019 04:53 PM

Maybe look through these colors for an orange. Chrysler orange perhaps?

They are more red when new, but orange could work.

I have seen ground grabber bars for sale.
How do they work and mount?

They make Super GG for leaf spring and coil. Which ones do you want to know about? The coil spring ones work on a similar principle of the longer lower control arms that talk about instant center.

I know I have an old article I've posted in the past. I will try to find it.
