Thank You From Dave Lindsley's Brother Marty

For those who don't know me, I'm Dave Lindsley's brother Marty. If you knew Dave, there's probably not much more I need to say. If you didn't know Dave, you missed out on knowing a special person. Just do a search of his name on this site and you'll see why.

I ran into Mark G., Paul M. & Joe (the non-Nova Joe) and a couple other C&C regulars last night at the In & Out in Laguna where our car club was having it's weekly Tuesday night cruise-in.

Mark was telling me that there was some friendly chatter concerning one of Dave's former cars, the Green Z that recently went up for sale. Mark mentioned that the post brought out a few members reminiscing about Dave and that I should check it out. I did....And I was moved to tears to see Dave being so fondly remembered on a site that he truly loved for it's members and it's atmosphere.

I wanted to let all of you know that myself and Dave's wife Bird appreciate you keeping Dave's memory alive like you have.

It says a lot when a car comes up for sale years later and one of the primary selling points is that "It was a Dave Lindsley car." Dave would be honored and humbled...Choke... by that. (Those that REALLY knew Dave will get the joke).

Just to mention a few by name-

Mark G.- Thanks for remaining a friend. Thanks for letting me know about the recent posts.

Paul M.- Always a friend! I really miss the trips to Pomona & LB.

All the Joe's (with & without Novas!)

Anthony S.- Who I haven't seen since the memorial. Hope we bump into each other someday. Junior is probably ready for the Camaro by now!

Mike C.- I don't think we ever met in person, but Dave spoke about you often and in the highest regard.

Bruce- For everything you and the girls do for me and Bird.

:youguysrock:

Here's a few memories for you-

Marty, thank you for coming onto the best muscle car site on the net..and sharing some pics of Dave's awesome cars. Don't be a stranger:beers:

You, Donna and Bird are also amazing folks...and Bird's place is the first place we visit when we drive to SoCal....and it's cool that you and Donna make the drive over when we're there as well!

I've got some plans for a tribute to Dave on this site once some programming gets done. I've already talked to Bird about it...and will fill you in later, as well.

Thanks again for the post...and be safe my friend!

Thanks Bruce. Too Bad I couldn't post to the Green Z thread. I figured everyone would find my separate post anyway.

BTW- I just reached out to the Ebay seller to suggest he make the correction on the listing. I don't think Dave Lindsey will mind! LOL.

Looking forward to your tribute.

Welcome Marty and thanks for checking in.

Hey Marty!

So good to hear from you!

The Boy is still all about soccer but he helps with car & parts projects and did a little walk with me this past weekend at Pomona.

Dave’s memory is still with everyone that ever met him, I’m sure of that.

Let’s meet up soon. LA Roadster show?

Cheers!
Anthony

Hi Marty,

Thank you for posting! Dave had an impact on me, I miss him. I loved his stories and of course, his cars. I really wanted to show him the survivor 67 Camaro I bought about a month before we lost him. I was making plans to make a Day 2 tribute car and knew he liked vintage speed parts. The car is done now and I think he would've really liked the finished product! He really was one of the good guys!

Chuck

Thanks Chuck. Dave really loved the Day 2 cars. Back in 1969 Dave ordered an L78/TH400 Nova from the local dealer. The story he told was he tried ordering it with no motor and no paint because he already had a built motor and he didn't really care for any of the factory colors! The dealership thought he was nuts. Obviously he couldn't get order without an engine or paint. The car took months to be delivered and arrived in Erie Pa in January! Poor guy, the car went straight to the garage and sat until spring!

He tore the ball joints out of it from it sitting up so high for weight transfer!

Has anyone seen Dana Hurt, Bob Anderson or Mark Shepard around the site?

I hope Dana is doing okay, the last I knew he wasn't feeling all that well. I've lost track of a few of the guys since they were Dave's friends. It's nice to see a few of you now and then!

He told me the story about the car a couple times. Put an L88 cam in it and realized that didn't work good on the street. He and a buddy put headers on it right after buying the car. I really liked your brother, I called him "Big" Dave, even though he wasn't that "Big". I think just because I looked up to him, he had quite a few years on me :smirk:
