346 Master Cylinder stamped ZA

Just about to strip this power brake hardware to send it down for a restoration with Mike Gibbons and found this 69 Z has a 346 Master with a ZA stamp on the pad. Obviously I am going to need to find another master cylinder but can anyone tell me what this master would have been out of?

67 68 Camaro disc brakes.

Is it a very early '69?...

I found reference of ZA being from a 68 car with Disk Brakes but wondered if that meant Z/28. This is an 02D 69 car with the booster dated 56 and the master appearing to have perhaps been on this car for a very long time if not in fact forever. Whether it came on the car or not, the car has been sitting like this since at least 1989.

I'd just like to know what it belongs to in case I replace it with a 309 master and move this one along

Thanks

Did the earlier 67-68 cars have this round style master with bleeders?

That was WT. http://www.camaros.org/suspen.shtml#Brakecomp
Never seen a ZA in a Camaro and don't know the usage.

Thanks Kurt,

I'm really curious what this ZA stamp was all about now. Warranty piece or dealer repair unit? The hunt for information continues I guess.

:dunno:

ZA was the replacement for the US master cylinder. Believe it was only offered over the counter. The ZA master is not as tall as the US.

The 346 casting looks the same as the 309 casting to me Warren? Both have that low profile roundish design to them. In fact I thought it was a 309 until I looked at the numbers.

In either case, I think I'll rebuild it and use it anyways as it's super clean and might be a good one to redo and maybe not need to be sleeved. I'll get this packed up and shipped off to you Mike.
