Hi Gang, another treat here!

A genuine CTB Z/28 Z28 LT-1 LT1 350/360 4 speed short block

It's been out of a car for years as evidenced by the dust, but it's real and out of a Norwood Camaro. VIN almost indiscernible, but I think I see 10N52635? but cannot be sure; it'll take more forensics to pull the numbers I think. But the first five don't need much imagination to read IMHO. I've included before and after photos of the VIN stamp area - I used paint remover and a tooth brush so's not to disturb too much, maybe with a 10X loop and some 1.75 readers you could see more than I and the camera can.

Might be dated a tad early to substitute in a Yenko Deuce, but maybe a good place holder for a real Z car - the suffix code stamp is clear and nice IMO, and right up front there for all to see. Nice to know it's a real deal motor.

block cast C250 C-25-0 = March 25, 1970 a Wednesday

V0410CTB = assembled April 10, 1970 a Friday

Again, clearly a Norwood, OH VIN but I cannot be 100% of the entire number

It is what it is as they say, and it's 0.030 over with L2252A TRW pistons, no real ridge in the bores - I'd bet there's not a lot of miles on this engine after the previous 30 over rebuild. I haven't spun it, but there's no obvious issue(s) that I see. There's a cam but no lifters.

4 bolt block - all caps present and oil pump. Dorman freeze plugs.

rods are the pink ones cast O or 0

1182 crank - not sure if it's standard.

cam is a presumed solid lifter one and likely a GM unit I would guess, but again, cannot be sure.

correct timing cover with AOR markings and all assembly line bolts.

correct 7712 HiPo 8" harmonic balancer, no bolt.

correct, I believe, oil pan, but only two bolts holding it on and has some dents as shown, but I believe it's an assembly line unit.

original windage tray and correct studs.

I'm not ready to part this assembly out yet, I would much rather see it go as a unit into a car needs something closer to their original block than they may have now.

I have a metric tonne of photos below to give the whole picture.

I'm not terribly interested in shipping this, but I might be persuaded to buy a cradle and crate and deliver it to a shipper nearby for actual costs. I also have a friend who travels the US delivering cars that might have room someday... we (you and he) can discuss.

Anyway, this seems to be an honest motor that was pulled some time ago, languished for years, and is now ready for a go through and be put back into service. I did not get any history on it or the car, so it's left to our imaginations I'm afraid.

5000.00 as it sits.

Cheers Friends,
Anthony

This is a neat find IMHO...

Cheers all,

Hi again, after a few requests and logistics of shipping as a whole, I'll part this short block out now:

400.00 rods - the pink ones, cast O or 0 & the attached 0.030 over L2252A TRW pistons.

400.00 1182 crank - not sure if it's standard.

400.00 correct timing cover with AOR markings and all assembly line bolts.

400.00 correct 7712 HiPo 8" harmonic balancer, no bolt.

SOLD original windage tray and (x5) correct studs.

SOLD factory assembly line oil pan - rare, but dented as shown.

All parts as shown above in the photos.

All prices PPG please and are plus shipping & insurance if requested.

0.00 for the cam; just pay shipping.

Once the block is bare I'm going to get it cleaned and magged.

Cheers everyone,
Anthony

It looks like 10N528357 to me but it's so rough there, it's hard to say.

Old race motor do you think Anthony?

AnthonyS 10-05-2023 10:59 PM

Hey Sam.

Based on where I found it, I suspect it was just pulled and shelved rather than rebuild an 0.030” over motor again back then. And it just sat until it followed me home. Cheers.
