Ys 760
I am curious if their is any old photos from Keystone which is now Pittsburgh International Raceway...of this particular car....going down the track. Thanks SYC Doug. 614-203-1272
The time frame would be between June ‘68 and October ‘71. I have a class winner decal from that timeline. Thanks
It only raced in 68 and 69 seasons
Do you know if it ever raced at any Ohio tracks, or just western PA?
It only raced at Keystone and nowhere else.

Nick Morocco and others have posted Keystone pics here before also may have more? To confirm, a '67 Yenko w/ what hood on it also what driver name? Best of luck! :beers: ~ Pete . |
Thank you for the response. The hood was a 68 SS Hood which belonged to the 68 Corvette Bronze Prototype Yenko Camaro YS 8002 . The driver was the original owner. The car was not lettered up. Doug

I suggest calling on the Super Friends to aid in the search. :3gears:

There he is.....Clark.....Mr. Kent !! SuperMan !!!!
The car is Nantucket Blue with Red Deluxe Interior. Odd combo for sure .
Fully Documented
The original owner has a great memory...his initial test drive was with his dad in the back seat ..He was in the passenger seat and the original salesman Ron Lane gave them a wild ride up onto route 79 that wasn’t open yet. Later as he got the car inspected for Pennsylvania registration(car came with Doug Headers) ...Don Yenko himself gave him a wild ride as well.
The original owner is a great guy that I call SuperMan because of his preservation of this car ...parking it in a heated garage in 1973 and the original color combination of Nantucket Blue with Red Deluxe Gut. According to the protect o plate he lived in Latrobe Pennsylvania when he bought the car new. He was just 19 years old. I have learned a lot from him over the last 9 years about his life with the car and just 7,257 original miles.

Great score on such a special car, Doug. I'm looking forward to seeing it someday.
Doug congratulations on your purchase
Did it come with a 1968 Yenko hood when new? What is the purchase date of the car? Did you get any baby pictures with it? sounds like an interesting 67 Yenko Camaro |
Thank you guys...my intentions are to ensure that the original owner is proud ...he has agreed to come to a few shows as his time permits. Joe...he went to Yenko Chevrolet and started the purchase process March 4, 1968...he dealt with Don Yenko himself and the salesman Ron Lane...they agreed to do the conversion....he went back to pick up the car March 16, 1968. It took 12 days to complete. Unfortunately there are no baby pictures...due to an unfortunate divorce. In the 5 sheets of Yenko paperwork the owner wanted a 68 SS Hood because he liked the louvers better....the hood is a weird story because when the paint was stripped away there was Corvette Bronze paint underneath.
The ride with Don reminds me of Ray Morrison's ride with Dick Harrell when he bought his Nova. You can't beat those ride stories.
Cool car and lots of paper work....Congrats. Interesting to see that it left Yenko with 15x6 DF wheels and the 68 Hood.

Thanks Darrell....yes Arone Restorations(Frank) will be doing the restoration his work is second to none. Paint and body work is perfect. He has done several Camaro National platinum and gold certificate cars. I trust his ability and knowledge. Frank and Matt Barzak are special friends of mine.

Original seats which cleaned up nicely.
You did an amazing job on those seats, they look great!
There are several coats of armor all on them for sure...they were stored nicely in the walk in attic of a heated garage right above the car where it was parked exactly 45 years ago.

Did someone say folddown and rear defrost? Yes please..
Those red seats are stunning!
Heated garage for 45 years(1973) preserved this amazing car . The original owner John is amazing and he recalls every detail since new...even the name badge Ron Lane had on ..it said High Performance Salesman Ron Lane
Great choice having Frank and Matt do the car.
