Debate on 1969 Z Trim Rings 2nd Design

Attached are pics of what I believe & have confirmed as the 2nd design 15x7 trim ring. A friend of mine purchased these 15x7 trim rings in 1984 along with a set of 15x6 for his 1968 RS/Z that he has owned since 1971, these were purchased from Troutman Chevy in Millersburg, PA. The part # 3901704 you see on the boxes is for 67-68 Z/28, so he must have gotten the boxes mixed up, I think the GM # for these trim rings ends in 696. Can someone post the earliest part # for these & the superseded #"s.
I had these at the recent Solid Lifter Showroom & I was talking with Skip Lecates and showed him these trim rings, he 100% confirmed these are the same trim rings on his Survivor Hugger Orange 1969 Z with 22k org miles with 09D Trim Tag.

Can't help with the part numbers, but my understanding has always been that the "oval" valve stem cutout was the only factory installed design for 15" trim rings in 1969. I've attached a picture of a survivor trim ring. The "racetrack" cutout (your pictures) is not a factory installed design. Skip (and you) know a heck of a lot about these cars though - so I could stand corrected. Good info.

Bruce, You are correct on the valve stem hole, I should have explained better, Skip's Z has what I believe is the 2nd design with the fingers all the way around to grab the wheel as shown in my pics, and the 3rd design I think has the inside 4 clips with the 2 sharp barbs on each one. I did not get a pic of Skip's valve stem hole.
