Wholesale shifts are accomplished in a free and open society by the dictates of the free market. Electric will kill the internal combustion engine-- when the market says so. A comment on the technology basis for EV's.. . Background: I used to manage a substantial stockpile of lithium (literally warehouses full) that was generated during the early days of our atomic defense programs. The US government sold all of it to battery manufacturers to enable the manufacture of Lithium batteries, and to keep lithium mining to an absolute minimum then all due to the risks presented by it. Want to see a real cesspool? Mine Lithium and look at the environmental impacts from doing so. Nobody wants to talk about it and there is a reason why. |
The "illusion" that electric vehicles are so much cleaner is just that, an illusion. Take into account the negative effects of mining for the materials needed for batteries and the electric producing plants required to power these are so underreported in a real and critical meaning, it's ridiculous. They should have named the Prius the Pious for all of the virtue signaling of their owners.

My logic is not faulty at all. The extent of mining is sure to increase a lot with much more demand, but it's not only the mining, it's the massive amounts of electricity that will be required to run a nation (several nations if it goes the way EV companies want it to) of millions of cars.

Love 'em or hate 'em electric vehicles will take over.Thank goodness I won't be around to witness it.

I think back to all the people hating LS engines.........

I have to reluctantly agree, EV's are absolutely amazing in performance, it's like driving a full scale RC car. Having been involved in OEM IC engine development for the last 30yrs that's a tuff pill to swallow, as gas and oil are in my blood. But it is the future, and while I don't really embrace it, it is what it is...Infrastructure? not ready, battery life?, not ready, but one day it will be and future generations will look back and will see IC engines the same way we see the Flintsone's car today. Until then, I'm burning gas and leaving my carbon footprint as long as possible..

Yes.. I remain shocked that this video has not been censored. Anyone here want to poke holes in the math, the logic, or the facts presented? |
