Factory 4.10 gear for an SS 350? Kind of rare, no?

Looks like a very nice car.

Sorry to say but the Cowl tag is a reproduction:thumbsdown:

NCRS doc says production date was 2/28/69 and the rear is dated the day before at 2/27. I dont think its the original rear.

Hotrodpaul 08-03-2021 05:26 PM

I thought the 4.10 was only available behind solid lifter cars as a RPO. Special order possibly?

I agree on the tag.

I own the car and just seen the comments regarding the cowl tag. Boy, i never noticed the tag not to be original but my wife tells me all the time I can never see that the garbage is full. So, thank you for pointing out and I will dig into this. I will call Brian, the gent that had the car restored in the 1997-1999 range. I have his contact information, so let me try and make contact. I will post if I find out any additional information. As a long time member of this site I do not want to misrepresent the car.

My wife tells me that I couldn't find my own nose if it wasn't attached, so I know how you feel. Hope everything works out with your car. Very nice ride no matter what.

You could get an SS L-48 300HP/350cid. 1969 Camaro with a 4.10 from the factory,but it would've had to been ordered along with a HD 2.42:1 Low 3spd,or a 2.52:1 Low 4spd.
The Z/28,L-34 & L-78 equipped Camaros were the only other engines that were allowed a 4.10.

I addressed this on BAT already but did make contact with the gent that had the restoration done. The tag was removed during the restoration, damaged enough they decided to replace with reproduction tag and yes the old one was tossed. Thanks for pointing out so I could address this early on, lucky enough to make contact with the guy. The drivetrain is what was in the car prior to restoration, just restored. Thank you
