The Supercar Registry - ID NOS GM Battery Cable. 1965 Chevelle?

I have this NOS GM battery cable and need help to ID. It is GM part#2987290. I believe that it fits 1965 Chevelle 327 or 396 or both.

The cable itself is about 43" inches long. The red lead is about 23" inches. It was discontinued by GM 10/1965 and superceded to 6286143 which does fit the 1965-1966 Chevelle with 327 and 396. Only problem is that newer cable shows to be 47" inches long.

If anyone has the 1965 Chevelle assembly manual it would be helpful to find out what this cable was assembly line correct for. The battery cables are normally found in the UPC 12 section.
