Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

Without the support of all my friends here on yenko.net and 2doorpost.com I would have never even considered buying my W-31 Post Car!!

At the end of this chassis restoration I will be a self proclaimed amateur, right now this is all 100% uncharted territory for me. I am car crazy for sure but have done very little work on cars

This is why sometimes (often) I post seemingly ridiculous details about things I am sure you all know very well..........but for example.........who would think a scattershield wouldn't fit with stock pipes, starter, brackets, etc, etc?

In my hobby as well as at work experience is key, and I appreciate everyone that jumps in and shares their experiences. (Obviously I can't follow everyone's path, I have to chose only one path for each item)

Big Thank You!!

Ryan

PS: Tonight or tomorrow I will visit Sam (W-Machine guy here in Ontario) to buy a few parts share some stories and take a few pictures of details on his survivor 1969 442 W-30, 4 speed, Holiday Coupe, Glade Green, Black top, gold/tan interior The clutch linkage, as mine is all "funcky", and I also want to see if it has (boxed rear control arms, a sway bar,) and frame tie bars? (Inline tube sells them for $65.00 US/$87.00 CAD)

I have a scattershield if you are interested. Came off my 65 F85 442, its on the right. Has the sandwich plate with it.

I know you have your eye set on a few engine builders, but I recommend you at least consider/talk to BTR Performance in Rochester, NY. I didn't realize how close you are to his shop, and Bill is definitely a top notch Olds engine builder, having raced Olds engines for many years. He's also typically backlogged, so if you wanted an engine done next September, should probably at least start calling around now to get in line somewhere.

Thanks for the offer, please PM a price but I feel it best to let this item sit for now and get the stock set up going before jumping into this Day 2 item.

If super reasonable of course I would buy it for future.

I have watched a few YouTube builds of his, and emailed, and talked to Bill and I feel he would be an excellent choice!! My street engine would be a piece of cake for them.

I am looking into many engine builders..... so many factors to consider.

All: Please feel free to recommend engine builders this is welcome information, I just don't want to be a douche and pick somebody last for the baseball team.

I like that you read my schedule in detail to foresee some pretty tight timelines considering all the research and preparations needed. Luke, your enthusiasm is totally addictive!!! (Now I won't sleep tonight thinking about clearance specs, roller vs flat...........)

I would contact Dan Jensen and Pierce Racing for engine questions.

Not sure about enthusiasm, I just live the nightmare, haha... 12 months into my engine build, and a few more to go... when I started, I figured worst case it would have been dyno'd in 2015. Not so much. (EDIT: should add that BTR isn't doing mine, I went more local so I could drop in from time to time)

Dean is a great guy. Goes above and beyond every time.
