Unrestored '68 Mustang GT, #s 390

Very cool car...but wow, that underbody is a complete mess. Doesn't seem to be affecting bidding much, though. Currently at $25k with the reserve not yet met.

What a nicely optioned car when new, it must have been a stunning looking car. It looks like it is unmolested having the original buck & carb tags, original A/C & emission components, wheels ect. What a shame it is so rusted to death. I can't say I have ever seen a Mustang's (or any Ford for that matter) strut rods and brackets that far gone with Rust before. Watch, this Car will probably come back as an Elenore Clone at Barrett Jackson and sell for $300K. Bill

I wouldn't be surprised at that. Just what the world needs, yet another Elenore clone  Reminiscent of all the General Lee clones 30 years ago

Very typical of the Mustangs I rebuilt up here. The right side strut rod bracket, frame rail and core support are more severely rusted, but they are under the battery and if it was left in the car for 35 years in storage, it may have frozen or cracked in some way and the acid leaked onto those areas. The rest is just normal Mustang rot and everything is available to rebuild it. Lots of work and time, but it's doable.

And money.

That air cleaner alone is worth big $ along with the smog set up. One year only stuff as 67s had an open element on the S-Codes.

Automatic, non-deluxe interior, no tach all hurt it but this car will come back via Dynacorn:hmmm::rolleyes2:

I think if that got dipped there would only be exterior body panels left!

Cheers
Dave

$25K for a rust bucket. GT or not. Our hobby is out of control.

It has been for a long time and as long as builders/flippers see these as a way to make large sums of money, it will stay out of control. What most people see here, is, tags and parts to "rebody" and flip.
There are 7 major components that are available to build a complete undercarriage and place what is left of the body on it as a "restoration". About 10k in parts and a LOT of time to do. After all that, is it still "all original, numbers matching " ??
