HELP Pre 1968 Muncie Shifter Identification 67' Impala? or something else?
I bought this yesterday at a swap meet and seller said he thinks it came out of a 1967 Impala SS Big Block with bench seat.
Just wanted to confirm if it is in fact for this car or something else? He also had the cut part from the cross member and the reverse rod has a bracket switch with rod. There are no part numbers on any rod except for the "W" deep stamp. Thanks in advance if you can help. |
----Others will probably tell you exactly what your shifter is, But I can tell you that I believe the 67 Impala's with 4-speeds all had round, lift up reverse shifters. This is after 67!......Bill S

I had the other photos with the Rods set up incorrectly, now on there properly with new photos. What is this For?
Reverse has a bracket with a reverse rod to activate a switch and Orange Cover inside to hold grease. Does anyone have a 1968 Impala with 4 Speed M20 M21 to compare? Also attached to the bottom of the big main bracket is Pieces cut off from the original Cross Member. |
Two private PM's stating 1968 1969 Impala M20 M21 or M22
Thank You guys. |
The orange cap is part of the reverse lockout. http://www.camaros.org/shifters.shtml#sag

So Orange Dust cap covers the Reverse Lockout Ball Bearing and rods/stabilizer rod/stabilizer bracket are unique to Big Block applications. All though it is Camaro Info I did learn Big Block Muncie parts are very different then Small Block/Saginaw/Hurst parts. A good read for sure. I will be posting the entire lot in the "For Sale" section soon as I am confident I can represent the part accurately now. I have 3 PM's so far interested that I do so. |
looks like 1968 Impala bench seat shifter
the shift levers have the smaller slots 1969 changed to the larger slot |
