There is a guy on Ebay that sells a working sender for this tye of gauge. I think they are $150 or more. Originals are like hen's teeth.

Jason...do you (or anybody) have any experience with this newer sender on eBay...I've thought about taking the chance on it but would hate to throw the money away...
Thanks for the input

No, I do not. I can say I have dealt with the guy before. I think his Ebay name is Chiper. I have bought from him/sold to him and it has always gone well. With the exception of him always outbidding me, he seems to be a really good guy https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif. It seems to me that finding the right replacement sender should be a matter of measuring the amount of resistance required to move the needle. I am not sure how to do that though.

I resonate with what Jason said above... he has an eye for the originals and deep pockets for anything and everything NOS Sun.

I am new to this site but saw this post and thought I would help here if I could.
I had an electrical engineer look at this sending unit a few years ago and he told me it is not a typical ohms resistance sending unit. I was looking into getting them made before "Chiper" had them. He said the cost would be very high. I would think that the ones that chiper sells on ebay would be worth it if they work. He only has the 1/8" thread so you would have to use an adaptor. The Sun part numbers for the three available sending units are WTS-125, WTS-375 and WTS-500. 1/8", 3/8" and 1/2".
I sent one gauge to Williamsons in AK and had it converted to mechanical. Works great but has the newer spring would capillary tube.
