I thought you guys might be interested in my 69 396 Survivor L78. I picked it up in CT in October. It originally came from Village Chevrolet, Queens Village, Long Island, NY. 40,000 miles with original drive train, original paint. I have the original retail order form, window sticker, car invoice and p.o.p. I recently spoke with Steve Shauger to have the car judged this year at Carlisle. I'll attach some pictures if I can.

Nice! How about telling us the story on how you found it. Have you been able to talk with the original owner? Post all the pictures you can.

I'm having trouble loading more pictures. Can anyone help?

I have more pictures - some from the previous owner (Gary) and some of my own. The weather turned bad when I got the car home, so it's stored in the garage and the lighting isn't too good.

I found the car on the Hemmings website. It wasn't in their book at the time, just online, when I first enquired about it. I had a 69 Z28 driver and I was looking for a documented Z28 that I could show. When I first saw the car on the Hemmings web site, I didn't react to it right away since it wasn't a Z28. After thinking about it for a few days, I decided to phone Gary, and after our conversation, I decided it was worth the 10 hour drive to check it out. I knew I wanted the car as soon as I saw it - it's not often you find a survivor in this condition. On the phone, Gary said it's 'no trailer queen', it's an original paint car, as well as drive train. I've never met a more honest person than Gary. His description of the car was very accurate. I was still nervous about buying the car, so I had Jerry MacNeish look at it. He told me to buy it - or he would.

I also have polaroids of the original owner with the car, and the Hemmings book from the 80's when the original owner sold the car.

The picture I'm attaching now shows a red X going through the letter T underneath the cowl tag. (On the right side of the picture, you can see the start of the green letter B. It is stamped B P T.)

John,

Glad you made this purchase. You will do well in the Vintage class at the Camaro Nats.

Good luck and enjoy your new hot rod. It's a good one!

Jerry
