The Arizona Republic printed the results reported by the auction companies today.

Barrett-Jackson 63 million, down 28%
Gooding & Co. 32.4 million, up 54%
RM Auctions 18.2 million, down 32%
Russo & Steele 17.1 million, down 14.5%

I did not think there were that many cars there this year. does anyone have the number compared to last year. without chevy's bunch there would of been only two tents apart from the big main section.

If my calculator is working, combining all four auctions sales were off $24.6M or 15.8%. That doesn't address the value per car sold in any way, just the total spent at these auctions year over year.

In my view, the totals were more a factor of the number & quality of the cars. It would have been interesting to compare equal numbers & quality to the "good years". The simple fact is that a ton of money was spent on collector cars in a few days. There doesn't seem to be any lack of willing buyers.

Gooding's large percentage increase is somewhat misleading, in that last year was their first-ever event in Scottsdale.

RM's total would have had another $9.4M added if the 63 Corvette Grand Sport and the 37 Bugatti Atalante had hit their reserves https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

First off nice to meet you the other day and thanks for the carburetor. It's already over at my friend's place getting the works.

Regarding who BJ is catering to, they cater to whoever sends in their money and buys a spot. As with most auctions, you request a place up to one year in advance. Your car may be sold by then and you bring whatever you have or lose the spot. BJ doesn't send you away at the door when you show up with a 4-door Rambler in place of the 69 Z/28 that you registered. BJ is an auction house and they sell whatever shows up. Nobody can tell me that those guys "hand selected" some of the turds that showed up.
