1958 Corvette Radio Delete

I have an opportunity to buy a 58 Corvette. I am being told that it was a radio delete car and I'm assuming also a heater delete. The fellow who restored the Corvette unfortunately added a box under the dash to support an aftermarket radio and cut in the antenna.

My question is: Did a 1958 Corvette with heater and radio delete not have the center extension from the dash where the heater controls, radio and clock were installed or was this extension in place on all Corvettes and simply blocked off.

Thanks for your help, Ed https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Ed,

All 1958-62 vettes that were heater delete had blank covers #3744864 these were installed at the factory to cover the three holes where the heater control would be. The radio delete plate part# 3744820 and its chevrolet emblem part# 3711574

My 66 has black interior. Virtually no options except the good ones, 427/425 HP, M21, 3.70:1 posi and Trans. Ign.

Yes, I love old Pontiacs. Currently I own only Firebird 4-speeds. 1968 Survivor Firebird 400 4-spd 3.55 posi, 1969 Firebird RA III M20 3.55 posi, 69 T/A RA III M20 3.55 posi and a 1970 T/A RA III M21 3.55 posi. I just sold my 64 GTO Tri-power 4-spd.

Thanks again, Ed https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Actually, there was no such thing as "radio delete". The radio wasn't standard equipment - the car was simply ordered without checking the option box to add the radio. Heater was the same thing - it wasn't standard equipment until 1962.
