1996 LT4 Pilot Corvette
I just purchased a 1996 LT4 Corvette Convertible from the second owner. The cool thing about the car is the buildsheet is marked PILOT. Also, it is an LT4 Convertible (Polo/Tan/Tan) that was built 4/28/95 with a VIN of 5100013. To the best of my knowledge GM was still building 1995 Corvettes at this time through approx. 6/30/95. GM owned the car for the first 8,700 miles and it was delivered to NAO Company Vehicle Operations.
Does anybody know of a site where I could research this car or possibly find photos of it other than the museum site. They are relatively limited and only selling reprints of docs. Thanks, Ed https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |

You can try the Corvette Forum, under the C4 section.

Re: 1996 LT4 Pilot Corvette
Congrats on your LT-4. I had one and am a big fan of those 1-year only wonders. They were the last of the cast-iron small blocks and GM wanted them to go out with a bang. The end of an era. You gotta love the reverse cooling. It's a shame that particular feature didn't carry over to the LS-series that followed afterwards. Always wanted to build a 383 CID version to have some fun with.

Jeff:
Thanks for the PM and the info. I also had a Grand Sport that I ordered new. It was a Z51 Coupe and I kept it for 8 years and only put 1,600 miles on it. I just loved that car but decided to sell it at Bloomington Gold. I wish I wouldn't have but it didn't make sense to keep it as a "bottle" car and it was just too nice to start driving. Anyway, I always loved the LT4 and this one fits the bill pretty nicely and the top goes down. Ed |
