661 Muncie case use in 69 Vette

I found a Muncie trans that has a 69 Vette partial VIN, and has a 661 maincase. Did GM use these cases late in the 69 model year because of the longer than usual production run for the Vettes and Camaros?
All the other 69 Muncies I've seen were a 660 case.

Ed,
Thanks for confirming what I thought.

Jeff,
I was just wondering if the 661 case got used in late production 69's, but now that you mention it I might be able to use a 660 case for another project. I'll PM you.

Thanks guys.

Maybe it depended what they had on hand, so some got 660's and others got 661's late in the production run. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
