Re: oil filter

It should be an AC PF-25.
When the assembly line installed that white, bottom script embossed filter on the vehicle,it was identical to yours, only with all black printed text. This is a very scarce filter and wasn't available OTC.
Yours sounds like the later over the counter white service filter w/double blue line & script, and a red AC ball. Some of these colored ones had the embossed bottom,(I think produced in Canada),and some did not.
Below is what Charley found on his unrestored survivor 70-Z with the later applied undercoating..

Here's what Greg Roberts,(Nova Research Project),had to add..
"I decided to try to make one of the assembly line style oil filters. First run was so so.I need to make another screen for bolder letters.I did not have measurements so the size was a best guess.I also need screen ink that does not set up as fast the current paint. It probably would have been faster to just make clear labels."

...and they are also reproducing the smooth bottom Red/Blue design one too.

Re: oil filter

Hello,

After getting a hands on look at one the originals, I was able to see that they were not perfect as I was trying to make them. Bleeding edges and fade out was common. I also noticed that the quality of the screening was dependent on the smoothness of the white paint on the filter.

He is my final version. What do you think?

Greg, very nice indeed! Would this have also been correct for a 69 model year? If so I want one... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Nice job Greg. Is that a stamp or a decal, or other?

Re: oil filter

rockn69,

I imagine that these were used a broad number of years. Anyone know how broad?

Sam,

Silk screened as original. That is why it took a few runs for me to get it right. I can usually nail a decal or stamp first time.

Greg
