1971 Z28
This is supposed to be a M22 transmission from a 1971 Z28. The last six digits matches the VIN of the car. How come it looks like the partial VIN begins with two 7´s ?

Re: 1971 Z28
Is the engine with the car? If so, what does the engine pad VIN stamp look like? It does look like 2 7's.

Re: 1971 Z28
This car is very original but was raced in the seventies, and the engine is not the "born with"-engine.

that trans has not been re-stamped if that is what you are asking ... |
Re: 1971 Z28
I´m pretty sure that is the original trans for that car, but the stamp sure looks odd. Are you saying that it´s a commonly seen "mistake" ?

Re: 1971 Z28
yes
I think they were trying to stamp ones ( 1 's ): http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...unciestamp.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26...iestampvin.jpg Here is the info on decoding a Muncie: http://www.5speeds.com/muncie2.htm |
Re: 1971 Z28
P1C05C =
P = Muncie 1 = 1971 C05 = March 5 C= M22 |
Re: 1971 Z28
It does look like they were trying to stamp "1's" and used a 7 at an angle to get the result. I would say those are the original stampings.
