L72 with A/C?

While aware it was never done, I was wondering what people's thoughts were about putting an L72 in a car with A/C. Would it run like complete garbage with the A/C on?

Just curious if anyone has done it. I'd like to keep A/C in my Biscayne (plus it'll be nice to have in AZ), so it's either find an LS1 or L36 for a reasonable price or drop the L72 in it.

Hey Tom...Why don't you build a big lazy stroker with a mild hydraulic cam? Big stroke cranks and custom pistons aren't much $$$ today, and something like a 482 (or easily bigger) wouldn't care if the AC compressor switched on or not. And you could dress it up like an L72.

Just a thought...

With and L72 engine, you wouldn't even notice the AC. Unless you are turning 6500 all the time, you won't have any problems. You are over your power peek up there anyway. our '97 Olds LSS redlines at 6K and it has air con. You could always remove the air con belt if you want to have fun.

Thanks guys.

Well, this car isn't going to be one going to the strip. Just a regular driver. Would like to be able to use the A/C from time to time when necessary, and not cause any problems to the engine when doing so.

It obviously gets pretty hot in Phx. I guess I'm more concerned about overheating than anything.
