Springs and shocks for a 70 Chevelle SS?

Hello,

I was wondering what springs to use in order to achieve the factory ride height on a 70 SS? Also, what shocks are you using? Part #"s would be great!I am staying away from the original type spiral shocks.
I drive my car so I want a shock that will be a hair bit stiffer than factory while maintaining a stock look. I am sure I will have to paint the shocks grey, no big deal.

Basically I want the car to have the correct height while also handle better than factory.

Thanks for the help!!!

I have a spare set of new MOOG rear springs that are factory height for your 70 chevelle.

I'll send you photos and price if interested.

Thanks! I sent you a PM about your springs.

OPG has front springs that they are calling factory style that are $170. Ground up has some that are Moog for $80. Anyone know the difference? Or should I be looking in other places?

Shocks:
Anyone try the GM replacement shocks that are black?
Are the Bilstein's or KYB's too stiff?
Looking for a little bit firmer ride but not real stiff.

Anthony i can see why you want other shocks instead of the factory GM spiral shocks.
I have the factory spiral GM shocks on my car and they are a little bouncy over bumps, but not bad overall.

Coil Spring Specialties out in Kansas has pretty good stuff...

I've had KYB's on my 72 for 18 years now with no issues. Ride is firmer than stock but still very comfortable. I painted them grey so they would not stand out as much.

We have had a set Bilsteins on an 87 Turbo Buick for about the same amount of time and they ride like a dump truck but really help the handling.
