512 MN Block - Legit or Re-stamp

This block is listed on eBay as a legitimate "MN" block. The stamping appears rather deep but fairly legit to me but I am not an expert.

I would like to hear opinions on this one.

I can't see from the picture but the pad is pretty pitted so much that the broach marks are gone. Look into the depressed areas of the stamp to see if the pitting is also present, If not I'd be suspect.

If it is a true MN block, shouldn't it have a vin by the oil filter?

What would it have been installed in? The very first Yenkos have much later engine dates. This would be the earliest MN engine by a wide margin.

I think it's fake. The numbers and letters aren't even close to the picture I have of a real MN block. Compare the "T", "0" and especially the "M". They are also too straight and too deep plus as Rich stated, the broach marks suck.

I emailed him for the VIN and the reply was 19N56737?

According to a site I just looked at the first 427 Camaro VIN was 578xxx.

Not sure if it means anything but all the blocks he is selling seem to have pitting on the pad with uneffected stampings except a 70 396 block he has for sale. The VIN stamp on the DZ block looks very suspect.

In your known good "MN" block I notice that the "0" has straight sides with only the top and bottom edges being rounded off. In the eBay one, the entire number is rounded.
As well, all the fonts appear just a little off without even considering the VIN date issue.

The center peak of the letter M on the ebay block comes all the way to the bottom. The center peak on the letter M on 69PostSedans's block doesn't.
