Will 235/60/15 Goodyear eagles fit '69 camaro?
 

Can anyone tell me the widest 60 series 15 inch Goodyear Eagle that will not rub the fender lip of a '69 Camaro. I have a set of 235/60/15s that work great on my '67 GT500 - wanted to try them on the Camaro, but thought someone here might have the answer before I make the switch. Thanks

Yes they will work fine. Had them on my 69 with 15 x 7 rally wheels. No tire rub at all. Besides they are only a 1/2" wider than a 215/65-15 which has the same external dimesions as the F70-14 that came stock on my car.

One caveat to this issue is RS. The actuator bracket & shield [particularly the LH] can be a clearance issue, depending on trim height. In my parts cars days I saw many LH shields with holes from tire contact, even with OE tires.

They should be fine but it might matter on the backspacing of the wheels. I ran some 235/60/14 on my 69 conv and they rubber the subframe at full turn. Those were on 14x6 rims and I'm not sure what the backspacing was. I ran some 245/50/16's on my old 68 without any rubbing, but again I can't remember the backspacing. The 68 handled great with the wider tires.

Depends on ride height. My all-original '69Z (including springs) sits a little lower than most of the restored cars you see out there; it had 235/60-15 BFG T/A's on original YH rims when I bought it, and I had occasional (loud) rubbing at 10 and 2 o'clock on the wheel opening moldings at full steering lock.

I replaced them later with 215/65-15 T/A's, and have had no rubbing since.

There's a big difference between 235/60/14 and 235/60/15 in almost every dimension.

On 14 inch wheels, I like 70 series tires as they are a little taller and fill the wheel well much better.

this is 235/60/15 on all 4 corners here. like was previously mentioned.Its hard to see the full clearance but you get the idea. they fill the wheel houses perfect. but i did have a little rub on the sub frame when at full lock to lock. nothin crazy though . and it looked very nice.
