John
They look good, tread wear is even on both tires and the price is right. I would snag them for the $100 BIN.

Soft compound S/S is a mid 80's to current feature on M/T tires...S/S was not around in the 1970's.

That being said the tread/look etc is identical to the 1970's regular bias ply tire. Most people would not know anyway. I would put the white letters inside and/or paint them if you want to be more correct.

I also have a feeling the old style bias is going to come out again. M/T discontinue these tires and then bring them out again every so often. They have done this for the last 25 years.Almost as if they run a huge batch and then let them run out and repeat.

They should work -These look older ..But I know the "S/S" moniker was used in the 1980's till just a few years ago,I used these type of M/T tires before and they wear out pretty qwick-But For the price -I would buy them &mount them on some Cool rims And see how it looks on your Car

These tires are worth the $100.00. They are not old. I contacted the owner and he said they are not very old and he put the white letters in and they got scoffed some. Email him and ask him questions. But, they are woth the 100.

Re: will these tires work for my day 2 project?

Over at the Team Chevelle site they have a section for wheel sizes. The way it was explained to me is divide the width of the wheel in half then add a 1/2". An 8" wide wheel divided in half is 4" then add a half inch. 15X8 wheels with 4-1/2" back spacing work great.

Corvette rally wheels have a 4-1/4" back space. IIRC That's why they work pretty good on Chevelles.

those Mickeys I have on the back of my camaro are mounted on 15X7 Cragars with I think 3-3/4" backspacing. NO problems with anything except the right side tailpipe rubs. I use the 1/2" spacers for that. I also run air shocks with low air pressure.

Re: will these tires work for my day 2 project?

Here's my car with factory 15 X 8 Corvette Rallys and 28 X 11.5 M/T ET Streets.

I did a little research and it appears the 15 X 8 rally's have a 4" backspacing not 4-1/4". So a 4-1/2" backspace would be better as mine are a little too far out although I don't have an issue with any rubbing.
