Fullsize Ford question
Hi !
A friend of mine has a frame with some severe rust issues. His car is a 1965 Galaxie 4 door hardtop. Now someone offers to sell him a frame from a 1967 Country sedan and the question is of course: will it fit under the 1965 hardtop body ? |
Re: Fullsize Ford question
Wheelbase is the same i believe

Re: Fullsize Ford question
Most of the differences are in the rear suspension. Here's a very informative article regarding frame swaps of '65-'68s.

Re: Fullsize Ford question
Thanks !
It seems like it would fit, if I understand everything right. The pictures won´t show up but it seems like the convertible and wagon-frames are more rigid in the rear section. And there were of course some minor changes made over the years. I guess we´ll go and take a look at the 1967 frame. |
Re: Fullsize Ford question
My Mom had a 65 Galaxie in the late 60's /early 70's and by 60k miles the frame was rusted thru. I remember my dad having a welding shop make up steel plates and welded them to the frame to save it.

Anders
My Hollander interchange shows – A ’65 Ford 4 dr. HT. their ref#1253 (C5AZ5005F) will only interchange with a ’65 2 dr.Sdn, 2 Dr. H.T. & 4 Dr. Sdn. A ’67 Ford S.W. their ref#1410 (C8AZ5005M) will only interchange ’66 -68 Ford S.W. & ’66 – 68 Mercury S.W. Glenn |
Re: Fullsize Ford question
Thanks Glenn, we will look very carefully at the 1967 S.W. frame to find out the difference between it and the frame that is under the 1965 4 dr.HT.
