1968 L88 Corvette
I have an intake manifold from an early '68 L88 Corvette. I'd like to find the car that it belongs to. Is there any way to find information on who has these cars? I think I read somewhere that there were only about 20 of these made in '68, but then I also read that there were about 40. It's also possible that the car that this came off of is at the bottom of Green river. I heard stories when I was a teenager about a Corvette that was stolen from up north, brought down here, stripped and pushed off into Green river just outside of town. The guy that had this intake manifold use to race a V drive boat with a L88 in it, so this could have been where the engine came from. The casting number on this intake is 3919851 and the date is 9-20-67.

That intake was never used on a production L88 so its rarity is only in the fact that not many were made.

Re: 1968 L88 Corvette
Alan Colvin said that he found documents at the Tonowanda plant that said that it was used on early '68 cars and was replaced by another number. I personally don't know either way. Are there more of these intake manifolds out there? I didn't know if this was the only one or if there are more.

I have owned around 10 of them.

Re: 1968 L88 Corvette
Wow, I've never seen another one and the casting number wasn't in any of the books that I had seen. I assumed that this was probably one of only a few that were made. How did they get out of the factory if they were not installed on cars? Were they sold over the counter?
