Sacrilege!!

At the local speed shop..........guy just bought this, removing (and selling) the original to car LS6 and dropping a 572 crate motor in it. What a shame! More money than he knows what to do with and ruining this car.

His money, his car.

But, there's a phrase for that, "More money than brains."

Buy the LS6 and wait for the rest of the car when he gets sick of the crate 572.

Re: Sacrilege!!

Buying the motor is exactly my plan. From water pump to tail end of tranny......$5k

As for "more money than brains," that's true in this case.....Amazing thing is he paid LS6 money for this car and doesn't care if he gets the money back! Just need to make sure he gives me right of first refusal when he tires of the car.........but I ain't paying what he paid. Simply because it won't have the original drivetrain!!!

Almost this exact scenario was in one of those Trosely "Krass & Bernie" episodes in HR or CC a few months ago. I think it even depicted a '70 Chevelle. Weird.

"More dollars the sense",is the phrase.

He should've never bought that Chevelle. He's not the right owner for it.
Seeing as he sells speed, tell him to buy a NOM 307 Malibu to drop the 572 crate into.
It'll be a stealth as well. He'll be money ahead and the hobby will be happier too.

Be carefull. This guy may be smarter then you think.Obviously if you are part of this forum you know what to look for as far as being positive it is the original LS6.It just seems something is missing here. Why would a guy spend all the money for a numbers matching LS6 and then sell the original motor? He has enough money to buy a LS6 Chevelle and a 572,but he can't afford to keep the original motor?$5000 is not a lot of money in the whole scenerio.Obviously he has talked to his Chevelle friends and they must have told him what a mistake he is making.I just can't imagine someone is that stupid.Just saying...
I'd also be nervous about publishing this deal on a national forum before it happens.I sure wouldn't be telling anyone where I live or where the car is.
Good luck.

Well, yeah, you're probably right about the "national forum" advertising. However, I don't have, nor plan on acquiring a Chevelle at this time. I've looked the car/engine/tranny over, it's got all the right numbers/components. Here's his issue. He just wants a fast, dependable car. The 454, while freshly rebuilt/restored (before he purchased), is making "ticking" noises and he just can't stand it. I watched the shop replace the lifters and check everything out where they thought it may be coming from but no luck. To me, the ONLY thing left that could possibly make the noise it's making is a bad valve guide, easy fix. But he's intent on putting the other motor in so whatever. I'll buy it, fix it, and put it on a stand in my shop and just wait.
