Re: Mander Super Hugger Camaro ???
Wow Jeff!
The scoops appear to be from AMT so could be any Camaro, exciting if a Mander car also easy to run the Vin by George to confirm! Again note the ad claims 430Hp, L88? And a 5 year 50 thou warranty! ~ Pete https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...amtcatalog.jpg |

I'm not a fan of the designs either, but the existence of another 427 Camaro conversion is pretty exciting.

Re: Mander Super Hugger Camaro ???
I worked at that dealership after it changed hands and became Dick Irwin Chev Olds. I remember going to Manders to look at new cars with my Dad, but never saw one of these. No one I knew who grew up in North Van ever saw one either. It's possible that the photo may have just showed what they could or would do. They did do some big block conversions, but I don't have any numbers. A mechanic who worked there, and later started his own transmission shop may have been involved, but I just found out he recently died of cancer. I had planned to go see him as he lived in Kelowna, just north of me.
There were some interesting cars running around North Van, including a 69 Camaro convert, that had a 427 in it and a lakewood hoop style rollbar, that could have been a Manders conversion. This was in the mid 70's. The mechanics name was Brian Murphy, and he may have been Neils son. Brians brother worked there too. |
Does anyone know how many of these were made? Or how rare are these cars? How much do they sell for?
