OLD Buick guys? Factory seat ventilation 1955?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1955-...orcev4exp=true
Check out this 55 Buick on ebay. Look at the fourth pic. Is that a factory seat ventilator? Also, if you look at some trunk shots, you can see 3 holes and some extra bracing or duct work. Again, is this stuff factory? If so, seems really strange as it does not appear to have come from the factory with A/C. Guess it could be for heat, not cooling. BTW, I really like the car. If I didn't have so many irons in the fire already, I would be trying to make a deal on it. |

Good chance it was this guy's Buick, Joe Zitone of Big-Z Stables...

That's a factory under seat heater. My dads 55 Roadmaster had the same thing. It kept your butt toasty warm in the winter.

I KNEW someone on here would know. Thanks John. Now I am curious. Did any of the other GM cars offer this? Seems pretty far ahead of its time. I realize that today, seat warmers are pretty common. But 1955?

There's a thread over on the H.A.M.B. where a guy is asking questions about one on a 56 Pontiac, whether he should fix the floors around it or just do away with it. I don't recall any pictures on that one though.
