I believe in theory insulating the carb could cause the carb to be cooler and may increase the fuel consumption by lowering inlet temperature and thus increasing the charge density.
Theoretically someone may come to this conclusion... allegedly.

I'm not a scientist I only play one on the internet... lol

Yeah, it is crazy cause we really need to worry about the fuel consumption on cars who are legally running a Holley or Carter.
