Yenko Deuce hood stripes
For the life of me, I cannot remember which way the stripes were "slanted" on the hood of the Cortez Silver Deuce I once owned. Have read the original stripes were slanted toward the front. I was looking at pictures of old Deuces and notice the blue Yenko with white stripes (much patina/faded paint). The hood stripe on the right-hand side of hood are NOT slanted to the front, but to the rear. So what is correct?

Re: Yenko Deuce hood stripes
They were installed with the slant in either direction, no real consistency between 1st or 2nd order of cars, colors, trans types... just the installer!

Thanks Marlin!!

Re: Yenko Deuce hood stripes
Marlin -- maybe you can help with this rumor. Is it true Classic Industries "bought" the right to the Yenko name, etc.?

Re: Yenko Deuce hood stripes
I had heard that as well, but I think it is just for clothing and trinkets - not the stripes. Tom Clary would know more.

Re: Yenko Deuce hood stripes
I visited with Lynn Yenko the other day. At that time the trademark/name was still in litigation.
Erntaz, my yellow deuce has the stripes slanted "backwards". It's original. No two original cars are the same as some were put on by Lynn and he college friends, and some were done at Hurst. Application is by eyeball, and elbow, with a little measuring. |
Re: Yenko Deuce hood stripes
Thanks all -- good info ... that explains the inconsistency with the stripes.
