fuel pressure gauge mounting

I have a 1978 Camaro. How did you guys mount the fuel pressure gauge to the cowl back in the day? I do not want to mount the gauge inside with a isolator and I am still running the stock hood. I have seen some pictures with some sort of mount for the pressure gauge but the hoods are shut and the picture's are taken from a distance.

As crude as it sounds....we punched a hole in the firewall and stuck our hand thru the hole the wiper motor used. Nobody over thought it, add a braided line and I bet you could even screw it to the hood. I had a old T block that fed the 780 and the gauge. Never see those used anymore!

NHRA didn't allow the fuel pressure gauge to be inside the car (obvious safety reasons). I made my own bracket and mounted mine on the cowl vent and ran the hose through the slot meant for the windshield washer squirter. I bent the wiper arm around it so I could still be street legal.

If you have to have a mechanical gauge, Vern has the solution.

However, I prefer electric.
I drive a turbo car and feel like monitoring fuel pressure is a must, even on the street.
My gauge is in the console. No need for runnnig a gas line through the firewall, just a wire.

I didn't know they had electric ones, but then, I'm living in the past.

It looks like what I am looking for is the same mount that was used on grumpys toy 8. Every picture I have found either has something in the way and I can not see the mount. If I could see how they mounted the fuel pressure gauge I could make something up from scratch.

Head over to Grump's facebook page and start looking for ideas. Shouldn't take much to figure it out.

Yeah, Verne, I got ready to make some smart a$$ remark about that, but didn't want to rub it in. Besides, I think we are about the same age.

Verne called that right....again.
I used the material glass installers use to set the old flat glass into the channels as a nice and neatly trimmed base, then took my time by going between the ribs on the cowl. PERFECT.
